Our third Fête du soleil Wrap-Up comes from our chapter in Swift Current. With a fun-filled month of July finished, this camp kicked off the month of August. The monitors animated Fête du soleil in Swift Current from August 2-5, using exciting vocabulary, crafts, games, and activities in French relating to each day’s theme. The themes for these four days were At the Olympics, Music, Medieval Times, and At the Zoo. What amusement in French!
Here is what the Swift CurIMG_3956rent chapter had to say about hosting Fête du soleil in their city:

Q: How long has Swift Current been hosting Fête du soleil camp?

A: Swift Current has been hosting Fête du soleil for about ten years.

Q: What makes Fête du soleil unique in Swift Current?

A: It is one of a very few French activities that takes place in Swift Current. Our community is quite small, with very little French – other than the school community. It is a good chance for the kids to stay connected to the language and to other children who speak French.

Q: Why is it important for Swift Current to host FêtIMG_3928e du soleil?

A: The parents value it as a chance for their children to do something fun in French and have a little language boost over the summer. The kids enjoy the crafts and activities, as well as interacting with friends who may not be in their class, so it enhances the school community as a whole.
The students at our camp are all from the same school.

Q: Who else helped to make this year’s Fête du soleil a success?

A: Thank you to the monitors who made this camp a success.

Q: What other programs or events does your chapter put on throughout the year? What is coming up?

A: Fête du soleil is our major event, but our chapter would like to consider putting on the Mini Rendez-vous again.Cropped photo
