October 16, 2016 – The official presentation of the Commissioner of Official Languages’ Award of Excellence for the Promotion of Linguistic Duality took place at Canadian Parents for French’s National Conference in Ottawa. This prestigious award acknowledges the work of organizations and individuals who have committed to the contribution, development and promotion of linguistic duality in Canada and abroad while not being subjected to the Official Languages Act.

Accepting the award from Commissioner Graham Fraser (right) on behalf of Canadian Parents for French is Karen Lynch (left), CPF President; and Jane Keith (middle), CPF Past-President.

Jane Keith, CPF National President, praised Fraser for his wholehearted support for access to quality French immersion and French-second-language programs for all Canadian youth in our schools.

It is with the utmost respect and gratitude that we thank Commissioner Fraser for his relentless support and solid leadership in bringing forward issues, helping to dispel myths, building bridges and removing barriers to second language education opportunities across Canada. This vote of confidence inspires us to continue onward in fulfilling our organization’s mandate which champions the opportunity to learn and use French for all those who call Canada home.  We look forward to continuing our important work with Mr. Fraser’s successor in the years to come.”
